The Story Map

An Interactive Journey Through Philadelphia’s Puerto Rican Legacy      The Story Map is a living extension of the Somos Society docuseries. An interactive archive that allows you to explore the places where these powerful community stories were lived, made, and remembered.      Move through the map and click on the icons to discover murals by artist Danny Torres, watch his award-winning documentary, and see where his exhibitions take place. Trace LuzSelenia Salas’ 50-year photography journey through the neighborhoods she documented. Each icon reveals photos, video, or media connected to the people and places shaping Puerto Rican identity in Philadelphia.      Freely explore how stories unfold across time and space. From Spring Garden to Northern Liberties, Fairhill to Hunting Park, along the spine of North 5th Street. As more episodes are released, this map will evolve, revealing the shifting geography and enduring legacy of Puerto Rican life in the city. This is more than a map, it’s a visual memory, a community archive, and a path through stories that deserve to be seen. Would you like to share any places?
